Measures: 58" x 69" Materials: 80% alpaca, 20% acrylic.

Care: Gentle machine or hand wash and rinse cold, using light detergent. Line/air dry. Drying in dryer for 5-10 minutes will add to fluff. If ironing desired, iron on low.

Alpacas are adorable, domesticated animals. Their fleece produces some of the silkiest and most versatile fiber found in nature. Alpaca fur fiber has been described as stronger than mohair, finer than cashmere, smoother than silk, softer than cotton, warmer than goose down, and better breathing than thermal knits.  Other benefits are that it is not scratchy, it’s flame resistant, water resistant, can wick away moisture, is lanoline free (hypoallergenic), lightweight, washable, shrink resistant and sustainably produced. Alpaca products are cruelty-free since alpacas benefit from having their fleece sheared.

In 2013 we traveled to Ecuador seeking all things alpaca . These blankets are one of our top finds. They are made by a tiny factory by a family outside of the indigenous town of Otovalo in Ecuador. Otovalo is known for its fiber artists and long proud fabric history.
